A beautiful wedding for one of my closest friends. Cameras love Hawaii… pictures can’t go bad. Add a beautiful bride and groom, and you’ve got magic. I’d write a longer, more meaningful summary here for this event, but I have forgotten all about it since it was so long ago… oh wait… or maybe it was because I passed out in the middle of it. June 20, 2010 – Vancouver, Canada
It’s quite rare for a large part of my family to gather at an event, and even more rare for my grandmother to travel far for one! However, the event did not disappoint as my cousin Jerry got married in the beautiful Vancouver, Canada. I know it happened half a year ago, but looking at these pictures again helps me remember just how wonderful their wedding was. Click here to see more from the album.

Every season there’s something. Christmas, he always out-does himself.

My first flickr blog post. It’s a pretty cool automated feature that allows me to blog on my website through flickr.com!

So as most of you already know, I’m backlogged with a large number of photos I have yet to post up on the site. I blame it on Yotowoti. Just hanging out with him has made me very picky as to what kind of pictures I post up. He’s one quality photographer. (Check out his pics at Yotowoti)

But here goes attempt #2 at updating the site. I’ll start with the recent good news of two close friends of mine, Michael and Grace, who have recently wed in San Francisco, CA. I’ve only got one picture up for now as a teaser, but the rest will come soon. (Unfortunately, this is probably this best photo of the batch, so don’t be disappointed if the rest aren’t as good. )

Haha. Sweet. Every once in a while, i’ll get a remark or two about some of my pictures on my flickr portfolio, but there’s one picture in particular that seems to grab a lot of attention. I received a message from a wikipedian user sam916 telling me that my picture “SFO at Night” (titled quite literally) was nominated for 2006 Picture of the Year, and had become a finalist! (I didn’t win, but being top 10 was pretty cool!

Reading some of the comments from the contest was also rewarding in itself. Here are some of my favorites:

• The SFO by night has been my wallpaper for months. Excellent picture.
• The usual experience with airports such as SFO is full of stress. It’s great to take a step back (or above in this case) and look at a beautiful shot showing the elegant functional design.
• This one has great technical application and educational use, and I’d be proud to have it in my portfolio.
• Weil ich schon mal dort war und ihn selbst erlebt habe… (.. umm. yeah!)

Giving just a little bit of background, I took this photo while I was on a private cessna piloted by a gentleman who kindly asked me if I’d like to fly on his plane just for fun, on the condition that I send him my photos. He took me twice around the bay area… once during the day, and another during the night. The night shots were quite difficult and unfortunately 75% of my shots turned out not being presentable because of the lack of light and as well as the wind ripping through the cockpit cabin causing an unsteady shot (due to window opening and closing for each shot — that was kinda fun). I got lucky though, and this one came out quite nice.
